Toxicology study day will provide acute and emergency physicians with the latest management in treating poisoning from common and more unusual toxins. We aim to develop a profound understanding of common toxidromes, including their distinctive clinical manifestations, underlying mechanisms, diagnostic criteria, and management principles.

All EM physicians should be able to effectively assess and manage complex presentations of patients presenting with life-threatening poisonings, integrating a multidisciplinary approach to optimize patient outcomes. Clinician will be able to enhance their ability to navigate challenging clinical scenarios and provide evidence-based, timely interventions in critical situations.

 

Paracetamol and salicylate poisoning – Administration of NAC, Anti cholinergic, Cholinergic and Hallucinogen toxidrome. Opiods and sedative hypnotics. Serotonin syndrome and oculogyric crisis.

Malignant hyperthermia management. Opiod toxicity. Antidotes and high dose insulin infusion indications. Overdoses – beta blockers, Nsaids, tricyclic antidepressants and anti-psychotics, acute alcohol poisoning, DT and WK syndromes and much more.
