Become an Expert in dealing with Acute unwell children in ED!

Imagine yourself in this scenario, it’s the 8’o clock handover in ED and you have been allocated to paeds! Most doctors, especially those with limited paediatric experience, dread entering the paediatric emergency department, however with the right knowledge and skill set, it can turn into a very pleasant and satisfying experience which will boost your confidence about working in ED in general.

The purpose of this study day is to go though some of the common paediatric presentations in ED so that you can confidently start your shift in paediatrics and gain experience. Everything ranging from paediatric vital signs and the paediatric early warning score (PEWS) to bumped heads and painful bones to wheezy kids, fevers and tummy pains, febrile seizures, unsettled baby, feeding problems and most importantly, managing parental anxiety. We will also discuss management of acutely unwell child, WETFLAG, injured child, poisoned child, safeguarding and MH in children etc.

Every EM clinician should be able to manage a sick child and we aim to help you with that.

After completing this study day, you’ll have the opportunity to take our proprietary mock exam to demonstrate your understanding. Successfully completing it earns you a certificate celebrating your accomplishment.
