Who We Are

Our Vision

At British Medical Courses, we believe in a future where every medical graduate, NHS doctor, paramedic, nurse, and non-trainee doctor—especially those working in emergency departments and across all areas of the NHS—feels confident, supported, and fully equipped to deliver outstanding care and truly thrive in their roles.

IMGs and non-trainee doctors are the backbone of the UK’s medical workforce, especially within Emergency Medicine. According to the General Medical Council (GMC), over 42% of doctors who joined the UK medical register in 2022 were IMGs, and more than one-third of all licensed doctors in the UK were trained overseasIn Emergency Medicine, this representation is even more pronounced, with IMGs and non-training doctors filling critical workforce gaps in a system under immense pressure.

Yet, despite their significant contributions, these professionals often face unique challenges:

  • Limited access to structured training and supervision
  • Insufficient support in understanding local clinical protocols
  • No dedicated funding for their professional development
  • A lack of inclusion in formal career progression frameworks

Imagine stepping into a demanding emergency department just weeks after arriving in a new country, unfamiliar with its systems, expectations, and culture, and being expected to deliver performance on par with locally trained colleagues. It’s overwhelming. It’s unfair.

Trainees benefit from structured rotations, protected teaching time, annual reviews, and dedicated educational supervisors. By contrast, NHS medical staffs, IMGs and non-trainees are too often expected to self-learn, navigate exams alone, and simply “blend in” without the institutional scaffolding needed to truly succeed. This ad-hoc model is unsustainable—and it is unacceptable.

We believe it’s time to change that.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet powerful:

To bridge the gap in training, support, and opportunity for all NHS Medical staff in UK Emergency and all areas of NHS. We aim to deliver structured, practical, and high-quality educational support that specifically designed for this cohort—by clinicians who’ve lived their journey.

We focus on core emergency competencies that every clinician should master, including but not limited to:

  • Rapid assessment and management of the acutely unwell patient
  • ECG, X-ray, ABG, and ultrasound interpretation
  • Practical knowledge in ENT, ophthalmology, gynecology, toxicology, psychiatry, orthopedics, trauma, pediatrics, and acute internal medicine
  • Safe and effective handling of pre-alert calls, trauma team activation, and minor injuries

We want every IMG and non-trainee to walk into any emergency department in the UK with the confidence, competence, and clinical clarity to manage whatever comes through the door.

Why It Matters

With the NHS under mounting strain—facing record-high demand, staffing shortages, and rising patient acuity—the need for a well-supported, skilled, and sustainable workforce has never been more urgent. Investing in the education and development of IMGs and non-trainee doctors is not just a matter of fairness—it’s a strategic imperative for the future of emergency care in the UK.

At British Medical Courses, we are a collective of like-minded doctors, educators, and clinicians who have faced these challenges and emerged stronger. Now, we’re committed to helping others do the same—with better tools, better guidance, and a better system.

  • Together, we have the power to raise the standard of care—for every healthcare professional, everywhere..
  • Because patient safety isn’t just important—it’s essential. It must guide everything we do.
  • Medical jobs in the UK may depend on visas, but access to world-class training and education should never be limited by borders.
